Properly selected windows guarantee airtightness, protection from the weather and keeping the heat inside the building. Windows, like all objects of everyday use, are subject to deterioration over time. They not only lose their functionality, but also look rather unsightly.  Proper measurement is crucial when replacing windows with new ones. How to measure windows before their replacement in old and new construction?

Measuring a window in a new building

Use measuring tape

Take measurements of the clear opening of the window. Remember that measurements must be given in millimeters.

Measure width and height

Measure the width and height in three places. If dimensions are different, the smallest value should be taken into account.

Do the calculations

Subtract 30 mm from the width of the window and subtract 55 mm from the height.
x – 30 mm = width
y – 55 mm = height
